How Vision Boarding helped save a Boy's Dreams

I wanted to write this blog sharing a story about helping people learn to go after their dreams, and not being afraid to “Create”.

One week ago, on my normal route home, I had a little boy (my neighbor) run up to me after I parked my car and ask, “Sir, can I have your car for my birthday?”

I smiled as his question had taken me by surprise, and proceeded to ask “When is your birthday?” To which he replied, “Today!” I logically stated that even if I were to give him the car, he wouldn't be able to drive it. The little boy nodded his head in agreement

The thing the struck me the most about this boy is he was not afraid to ask for what he wanted… so many of us live a life of fear, not able to step out of  our comfort zones and ask for what we want. Thus, I proceeded and told the boy….. “Do you want to know how I got this car?” He nodded …

I told him when I was his age I wanted this car too…. I wanted it so bad that I hung a photo of it over my bed, and each day I would look at it and promise myself that one day I would have it. It’s called a picture goal. Many successful leaders use it and call it the first step to create. They explain how actually seeing the goal every day and visualizing reaching that goal, can help you significantly to achieve your dreams.

You should do the same.

The boy smiled as if he just uncovered a wonderful secret or great treasure. Sometimes giving children a gift of knowledge and a way to truly create and be anything they want, is far more valuable than anything money could buy. The lesson of this story always reminds me that sometimes we forget to let our minds run free, and when they do, we should find out exactly what we want, and be able to visualize it almost to the point that we can hold it in our own hands!

Today, I gave little Andre something for his birthday. I made him a poster of my car to hang on his wall. His first goal picture, the bottom of the picture read:

The secret to making dreams come true:

1) Imagine it 2) Put it on paper 3) Express it to the world ( family & friends)
