Dear Lebanon

First of all, you know that I love you, and always will! I’m frustrated that the Lebanese government has let you down time and time again. I’m sorry that our people have had to resort to extreme measures to make their voices heard. This pandemic hasn’t really changed anything – corrupt leaders are still corrupt and probably secretly concocting ways on how to get themselves out of an even deeper hole that they themselves have dug on their own selfish accord. And who has to suffer through all this rubbish day in and day out – the people. The people who believed in you, who put their very livelihood and trust in you.

You have always held a special place in my heart and you will continue to do so. For as long as I can remember, we the people have always been resilient – despite all the turmoil, nothing can break us. Of course, we can’t deny the fact that our trust has diminished over the years and anxieties have reached a whole new level. We have an overpowering need to protect ourselves, our loved ones, and community at any or all costs, no matter what – it’s just human nature.

Lebanon, don’t let corruption and evil strip you of your compassion, beauty, and courageous efforts.

The universe has been testing you for a very long time – the time has come to take a different route. In the words of Albert Einstein, ‘Insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.

I know You’re not insane, you just let your ego get the best of you, which manifested into greed, power, manipulation, and corruption. Take action now. WE need to work together as ONE UNIT. It’s not only YOUR mission alone – but we MUST take it upon OURSELVES to overcome all the hardships that YOU have faced and are currently facing. Let’s learn from OUR mistakes and move on. The Power lies within US – THE PEOPLE. My hope is that one day YOU, dear Lebanon, can live in ‘UNITY.’

Let’s turn POISON into MEDICINE and keep moving forward with vitality and powerful optimism!!

Your beloved daughter,

Nadine Zaytoun Najjar
